Our May hike was a little more strenuous than our average, though not so unusual when led by the lovely David P, to whom many thanks for a wonderful day out.

We started from the pretty village of Dorstone and climbed gently to the summit of Merbach Hill, with glorious views all around and carpets of bluebells just nearing the end of their showtime. Descending a little, we turned onto the Wye Valley Way to Bredwardine, where we lunched by the churchyard wall with bells ringing for a wedding service. Then there was a steep climb up to Arthur’s Stone and a relatively easy descent back to Dorstone.

Just under 8 miles in all, through one of the most beautiful parts of Herefordshire. Watch out for details of our next hike in June
