HBC Hiking Group has been lucky with the weather this autumn. We had a beautiful day for Hergest Ridge in October, as previously reported.

In November we started at a Wye Valley viewpoint south of Fownhope and enjoyed wonderful views on our 6 mile route via Brockhampton and How Caple churches. Thanks to Mike C for leading us.

On 8th December we visited another Brockhampton, near Bromyard. Starting from Brockhampton School, we crossed the A44 and headed eastwards across Bringsty Common via the Gospel Oak, then north back across the A44 and westwards through the huge Brockhampton Estate (National Trust), past Warren Farm, where we found the impressive pumpkin filling a barn doorway in the photo, thence back via Bromyard Downs, a distance of just under 8 miles. Thanks to David P for leading us on this occasion.

That completes a wonderful and varied programme for 2018 with hikes suitable for occasional walkers and one or two more challenging outings. Watch out for more in 2019.
