The HBC Hiking Group, having given prior permission for the Royal Wedding and the Cup Final to take place on the same day, set off from Kilpeck in warm sunshine on the morning of 19th May, 2018. We started from the lovely little Norman church in Kilpeck and inspected a fine oak tree on the village green, planted shortly after the Battle of Trafalgar to celebrate Nelson’s victory.

There are plenty of snaps of jolly hikers on this site, so this time our picture shows something even more beautiful, one of several carpets of bluebells we encountered along the way. Passing through lovely rolling Herefordshire farmland, there was a gentle ascent up Saddlebow Hill and then we climbed Cole’s Tump with a fine view to the east on the way up and then panoramic views to the west and south as we stopped for lunch at the top before returning to Kilpeck.

Watch out for details of our next walk, scheduled for 16th June.
