Puppet Show Sunday

On the morning of Sunday, 15th November, the front of Hereford Baptist Church was set up as a Puppet Theatre when the Puppet Group from Ross on Wye Baptist Church was invited to lead a Family Puppet Service. Under the leadership of Fiona the group presented a variety of sketches and mimed songs that demonstrated just how wonderful and how marvellous our Lord is looking after each one of us all the time. “The Lion’s Den” and “The Wise Man and the Foolish Man”attracted special appreciation from both the young and the more mature in the large congregation.
Fiona herself linked the items with introductory comments and also relayed happenings in her life, when she clearly felt that the Lord was looking after her in times of trouble in a very special way. Being marooned in a motorway lay-by at night after her car broke down until help via the AA arrived made one or the other listener recall similar situations in their own life.
It was very apparent that the service was very well received and much appreciated by all. Perhaps, they may come back to us at some other time.
CVM Event

Rose Garden Church
The Rose Garden Church was established in September 2008 following arrangements between the management of The Rose Garden and Hereford Baptist Church to provide regular evangelical Christian worship on Sunday afternoons in the “Fred Bulmer Hall” of The Rose Garden. The services are open to residents of The Rose Garden and their families, staff and volunteers, as well as members of Hereford Baptist Church regularly involved with these services. At times, representatives from other churches in Hereford and surrounding area lead services or take part in them.
From a very small beginning, the congregation has gradually grown and so it was with great rejoicing that a fellowship of some 25 people gathered to celebrate the Church’s First Anniversary.
The service was led by Hereford Baptist Church Senior Minister, Rev. Antony Wareham, and the honour of cutting the specially commissioned birthday cake fell to Rev. Niels Waugh, Chaplain at The Rose Garden and Associate Minister at HBC. With a piece of birthday cake each member of the congregation was given a red rose, the symbol of the Rose Garden Church.
Church Weekend Away

During a recent weekend some 150 members, their families and friends of Hereford Baptist Church spent a weekend at the Quinta Conference Centre near Oswestry, Shropshire. The ‘welcome’ on Friday afternoon was a bit wet, but a glorious rainbow promised better things to come, and the weather soon improved, allowing a variety of sport activities till the ‘farewells’ on Sunday afternoon.
The main reason for the weekend was to give members of the church family a chance to get to know each other better in a relaxed and informal setting. Special guest for the weekend was Stuart Reid who gave a series of seminars on how the Holy Spirit leads each one of us through our lives. Children and young people met in several groups according to their age, with a small group working up to a Puppetry performance during Sunday morning’s Family Service.
Highlights of the weekend included:
- a walk along the Llangollen Canal, across the Chirk Aqueduct and Viaduct, through a 400m long tunnel
- a ropes activity course
- a traditional bonfire on Saturday night
- and for the less active, a quiet time of fellowship or contemplation in the comfortable lounge
The weekend was a huge success, there was much praise for the church team who organised it and, of course, for the staff at Quinta who made our time with them such a pleasant and enjoyable experience. The general response was so positive that already now plans are underway for a similar weekend scheduled for 9 - 11 September 2011. Early booking will certainly be advisable!

This Week!
